Hand-Built Pebble-Texture Studio Pottery Bowl in Midnight Blue Glaze – Contemporary Ceramic

A constellation of hand-pressed clay pebbles coalesce into this compact bowl, each nodule catching the midnight-blue glaze in slightly different depths and swirls. The result is an almost geological surface—smooth yet richly tactile—that invites both light and touch. At roughly nine centimetres tall and eleven across the rim, it is sized for sea-salt on a counter, trinkets beside the bed, or nothing more than quiet contemplation on a shelf.

Pebble construction riffs on the coil-building methods championed by British studio potters in the late 20th century, when individual thumb-marks were celebrated rather than hidden. The deep, almost indigo glaze echoes traditional iron-rich recipes yet reveals subtle green undertones under strong light. Pair it with pale timber for contrast, or group with raw stoneware for a study in surface and shadow.
