Architectural yet playful, this slip-cast stoneware vase frames flowers inside a sculptural aperture—an oval window punched through a satin-smooth rectangle of oxblood glaze. The high-gloss surface deepens to near-black in recesses, while the 22 × 20 cm profile slides neatly onto narrow mantels or bookshelf ledges. Rounded corners soften the geometry, letting a single branch or dried palm spear read like botanical art.
“Window” forms took hold in late-1980s Italy when Memphis designers championed bold negative space; German makers soon followed, exporting colourful slip-cast versions throughout Europe. Unmarked but crisply finished, this piece channels that era’s graphic confidence. Stand it solo as a colour block, or thread a few sculptural stems through the opening for a striking, almost weightless arrangement.
